1. Manikarnika Snanam & Sankalpam

The pilgrimage commences with a holy dip at Manikarnika Ghat or Dashashwamedh Ghat. The Vedic purohit guides the karta through Maha Sankalpam, invoking the cosmic coordinates of the pilgrim, their Gotra, Pravara, Nakshatra, and three generations of paternal and maternal ancestors. Pilgrims collect holy Ganga water in brass or copper containers (Kamandalu or Gangajali) for their household deities and rituals.

2. Kashi Vishwanath Abhishekam & Sparsh Rules

Pilgrims proceed to Sri Kashi Vishwanath Temple to offer Ganga water directly to the Jyotirlingam. To touch the holy lingam (Sparsh Darshan), pilgrims must attend during approved time slots: early morning 04:30–05:30 AM or afternoon 12:30–16:00 PM.

Strict dress codes apply:
